Massachusetts has its fair share of pests and vermin, but none have the potential for destruction if left to their own devices like a colony of carpenter ants. Among the largest of all ant species, these vicious insects can grow to be nearly 3/8 of an inch long. In groups, they will carve away at damp and rotten wood to form galleries, the places they live, for themselves and their colony. Both nests must be eliminated in order to destroy the entire colony. If only one nest is destroyed the colony will not die out and will grow again, continuing to attach your home.
